The quiet collection

Take your time

A useful short break does not have to be a fast one. These games keep the important information on the board: a colored territory, a matching tile, the top layer in a bottle or the next accessible screw. Start by reading the position, then make a move you can explain.

Choose the kind of thinking you enjoy

LihuaDoku is about excluding impossible placements. Mahjong Valley is about opening clear lines between matching tiles. Water Sort and Puzzle Hex ask where an object can wait while you uncover another color. These are different problems, even though each fits a phone-shaped screen.

A good habit for a short session

Before your first tap, identify the rule that makes a move legal. Before your second, look at the space the first move left behind. This simple pause is especially useful in sorting games, where filling the last empty container can leave you with no way to rearrange the remaining pieces.

Keep the break manageable

A browser tab can reload when you navigate away, and progress depends on the individual game and this device. Finish a small board before moving to another title. Use Save game to keep a website shortcut; it bookmarks the game and does not back up its progress.
